767
The Boeing 767 is a mid-size, wide-body twinjet airliner produced by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Passenger versions of the 767 can carry between 181 and 375 passengers, and have a range of 5,200 to 6,590 nautical miles (9,400 to 12,200 km) depending on variant and seating configuration.[3] The Boeing 767 has been produced in three fuselage lengths. The original 767-200 first entered into airline service in 1982, followed by the 767-300 in 1986, and the 767-400ER in 2000. Extended range versions of the original -200 and -300 models, the 767-200ER and 767-300ER, have been produced with added payload and operating distance capability. The 767-300F, a freighter version, entered service in 1995.

The first wide-body twinjet produced by Boeing, the 767 was conceived and designed in tandem with the narrow-body Boeing 757 twinjet. Both airliners share design features and flight decks, enabling pilots to obtain a common type rating to operate the two aircraft. The 767 was the first Boeing wide-body airliner to enter service with a two-person crew flight deck, eliminating the need for a flight engineer. Following in-service indications of its twinjet design reliability, the 767 received regulatory approval allowing extended transoceanic operations beginning in 1985.

Through the 1990s, the Boeing 767 became commonly used on medium long-haul routes, and the aircraft has ranked as the most commonly-used airliner for transatlantic flights between the United States and Europe.[4] There have been over 1,000 Boeing 767s ordered with over 900 delivered as of 2009.[1] The -300/-300ER models are the most popular variants, accounting for approximately two-thirds of all 767s ordered.[5] There was a total of 864 Boeing 767s in service with 48 different airlines as of July 2009.[6]

Delta Airlines
Delta Air Lines, Inc. (IATA: DL, ICAO: DAL, Callsign: DELTA) (NYSE: DAL) is a United States airline[2] based and headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia.[3][4] Delta operates an extensive domestic and international network, spanning North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, the Caribbean, and Australia. Delta began service to Sydney, Australia from Los Angeles in July 2009, which made it the only current American carrier to serve every continent except Antarctica. Delta and its subsidiaries fly to over 375 destinations in 88 countries (excluding codeshare), across 6 continents.[5] Delta is the only major U.S. carrier that flies to Africa [6] and operates the two longest non-stop routes of all U.S. carriers from Atlanta to Mumbai (until October 25, 2009) and from Atlanta to Johannesburg on the Boeing 777-200LR.[7]

Delta operates its largest hub at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and also maintains hubs at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City and Salt Lake City International Airport. Delta's Atlanta hub is the busiest airline hub in the world. Delta announced that it had reached an agreement with Tempe-based US Airways to swap take-off and landing slots at LaGuardia Airport which Delta is planning to make a domestic hub[8].

On October 29, 2008, Delta completed its merger with Northwest Airlines to form the world's largest commercial carrier.[9] In February 2009, the airline began consolidating gates and ticket counters at airports where both Delta and Northwest operate. The consolidation will be completed by February 2010.[10] Delta carries more passengers across the Atlantic than any other carrier worldwide.
